JANET A. KAMIEN As vice president for the Science Center at Philadelphia's Franklin Institute, Janet re-organized science center operations, created a viable design department, and conceived the exhibit and program plan for the future. At Chicago's Field Museum, she was chairman of design and production and later director of exhibits. She organized and led an 80-person staff who created and maintained more than 135,000 square feet of new exhibition space. Janet started her career at the Boston Children's Museum, beginning as the Visitor Center manager and becoming associate director. She also developed two landmark exhibits: What If You Couldn't? An Exhibit about Disabilities and Endings: An Exhibit about Death and Loss. Janet has been an active member of the museum community since 1972. In addition to her diverse administrative and creative work, she has served as an acting director during searches and leaves, maintained an advisory and consultant role for a variety of institutions and projects, and continued to publish and present for professional and student audiences. |
