JOE ANSEL

In his 18 years as an Assistant Director and Exhibit Shop Manager at the Exploratorium, Joe Ansel led and participated in the conception, design and fabrication of over 125 new, interactive science exhibits and artworks.  In particular, Joe supported artists, such as Ned Kahn, Norman Tuck and others in creating artworks  for science center venues.

Joe’s early work contributed significantly to the creation of the interactive exhibit genre and thus the modern science center movement itself.

In 1992 Joe created Ansel Associates, Inc. (AAI) -- a consulting, exhibition design and management firm.

Recently AAI conceived, designed and completedthe exhibitions for Phaeno, Germany’s largest interactive science center.   AAI’s current projects include content development and exhibition delivery for the Anchorage Museum, Anchorage, Alaska.
